Pleased to meet you. Thank you, pleased to meet you too.
First off, happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans. Yeah, I’m a day off. Sorry, had to spend some time on priorities. I’ll eat a brownie in honor, turkey is too expensive to cook one.
So I took the GRE today. I played the game, and scored well enough to get my application looked at. I despise standardized tests, and the GRE is even worse. Essentially, one’s score has a direct correlation to the amount of prep work. Seriously, I feel the only section of the exam that even halfway showed what I will do in a PhD program is the writing section.
I found it funny that I really didn’t know the math stuff before studying for it. Ok, I knew it, but I did have to study to review it, just as a business major would. The math I do on a daily basis is radically different from the GRE math section. I suppose that’s because it only tests through high school level math. High level math is so much more interesting.
I started two new courses this week. I’m stoked for Nationalism, Ethnicity and Conflict. I had to miss it today because of the GRE, but I’m really looking forward to the course. Hmm, I think I’m in the wrong field. Or no, I’m in exactly the right field. Or I just like too many things.
Sorry for neglecting communication with everyone. I’ll get to work on that straight away.
American television is hilarious. Rather, we have a few good shows. We take good comedies like Family Guy, Sealab 2021 and Home Movies for granted. We should realize that we’re lucky to have such shows on television, and it’s shows like these that have made American culture so influential. And they’re actually a large part of the predominance of English around the world. I still say, “trash your tv,” but now I thank Hollywood for pushing my mother tongue to a large world population. Keep making good stuff, but let’s concentrate on good shows.
Mulholland Drive is a seriously good flick. Watch it with an open mind, just be prepared to do some work.
I’m returning to the U.S. of A. on January 15, 2005. I simultaneously can’t wait and can’t bear leaving.
U.S. universities play a much more active part in the social lives of students that European universities. I miss the happenings and business associated with the university. I miss weekly concerts, stupid comedians and hula-hoop dancers. I miss Prexy’s Pasture, and meeting folks while strolling across the windblown plane.
Spain is a beautiful place, like a rich version of Mexico. Is it more proper to say Mexico’s a poor version of Spain?
And I’ll try to update more frequently. Learn ignorance is my bastard child, so I ought to feed her. I stopped the flow, restricting my veins as well. Is it proper to say I have some gorgeous photos of Europe? I’m in my impressionist period. Completely obsessed with reflections. Still obsessed with wide angles, but learning the power of shooting landscapes with a telephoto.
Bear in mind your goodwill for fellow man. Good night you darlings of learn ignorance.
hug
Funny you mention Muholland Drive, I had just bought it the other day.
