Tornado Brewing

The Coming Storm

I took this photo directly behind my parents’ house when I visited them a couple of weeks ago. A tornado was brewing, and it later destroyed dozens of homes in a village 10 miles north of my parents’ home. When my dad and I were eating mexican food and a table of visitors from Colorado starting worrying over the coming storm, I thought they were a bit out of wack. Though I agreed with their comments on Wyoming weather being irksome.

School

I started classes just over a week ago. I finished my first homework assignment tonight, and I’ve started on a couple more. Though I definitely focus much more on my research, which is essentially graph theory with algorithms thrown in. I’ve got a couple of a ideas for “big” plans and a couple of smaller questions I’m working on. It feels good to sit down and do serious work on an open question.

  1. Thanks for this shot and for many of the others you've posted of beautiful Wyoming scenes. The state gets a bad rap sometimes for being the big empty, but images like this are a reminder of just how powerfully beautiful the place can be.

Oh, and good luck with your teaching. It can be fun, but I always found it was a little harder than it looked.
