In limbo

In Limbo

Having been delayed many hours in Minneapolis, I finally arrived at Denver International Airport at close to 3 am. Even so, it took about 45 minutes for my bag to appear on the rotating pickup spot; a testiment to the sluggishness of DIA’s automated baggage claim system which has now been replaced by a man-powered system. I suppose it’s faster, since it couldn’t possibly be any slower. The airport was nearly deserted, except for a few cleaning folks and a few of us weary travelers whose flights didn’t leave on time.

By the time I made it home this morning, the sun had breached the pinnacle of the western mountains to warm the land and revivify my sleep-deprived body.

  1. Andy, just wondering what your top albums of the year are so far. Gimme Fiction is pretty good and PIcaresque by the Decemberists is really great. I'm a sucker for Beck's new album, Guero, also. Those three would all rank in my top 5. The other two are yet to be determined but one spot might go to the White Stripes' newest, Get Behind Me Satan.

  2. Heh well yeah I suppose I haven't talked about music for quite some time... I recently bought Broken Social Scene's self-titled album (after downloading it earlier). It's quite good. Maybe not quite as powerful as You Forgot it in People which I'd say is namely due to a couple of songs that throw the flow of the album off with their crappy rapping. Gimme Fiction is good. I like it quite a bit, but again pales compared to Kill the Moonlight. I attempted to "obtain" Picareque the other day to no avail. Perhaps I will purchase it at some point in the future.

Ok but as for the best album of the year thus far, it's definitely Sufjan Stevens's Illinois. No doubt about that in my mind.

Best reissue of the year goes to Neutral Milk Hotel because In the Aeroplane over the Sea was just re-released. Ahh that album is absolutely brilliant. It's steadily grown on me to become one of my favorite albums ever.

Karl, tell your brother to email me his address so I can send him some tunes.

  3. Ignore me, I'm testing to make the upgrade went smoothly.
