Road Trip to the East Coast

Pennsylvania in the rain

Day 3: Ohio, Pennsylvania and Delaware

I left Cleveland, Ohio, a bit later than I really anticipated, but didn’t care because my trip was dwindling down. I entered Pennsylvania and quickly realized how beautiful the vast rolling mountains of the Appalachians are. Certainly they are not as bold and striking as the Rockies, but they do have a certain old-world charm to them. I thoroughly enjoyed crossing Pennsylvania due to this. And of course, unlike the Rockies, the mountains of PA are covered by vast stretches of forests. Many of the deciduous trees hadn’t quite budded yet, and the multi-colored hillsides were beautiful.

I had a dangerous/fun time going through a lengthy tunnel in eastern PA.

And at long last, after over 30 hours of driving, I’d reached Philadelphia, a city of much American history and a signal that I had only 40 more miles of driving ahead!

My final destination: Wilmington, Delaware. I’ve been here for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been fun thus far. I’ve done some programming, some biking, some hiking, some partying and been asked if I ski many a times. More to come.

  1. See in you August. I am excited to see the big cities again. Wyoming's plains can make you miss the tall buildings, and places where people actually live!!
